Junkanoo Groups

The first Junkanoo groups were introduced in the 1950’s, as the parade became more organized. Today, we have four major groups, the “Valley Boys”, the “Saxons Superstars”, “Roots”, and “One Family”, with members in the thousands, that compete each year for the grand prize, and several other smaller groups, which “rush” for fun or smaller prizes.
